Hunting Plc CEO Jim Johnson to retire by mid-2027

LONDON: Hunting PLC, a precision engineering group, announced Tuesday that Chief Executive Jim Johnson intends to retire as a director by mid-2027, triggering a succession process that will consider both internal and external candidates.

Johnson, who has held senior management roles at Hunting since 1992, was appointed chief operating officer in 2011 and became CEO in 2017. He has led the company through a period of significant development, including the launch of the Hunting 2030 Strategy in 2023.

The company’s Nomination Committee has begun the search for a successor to lead Hunting through its next phase of growth.

“Jim’s long tenure at Hunting is testament to the strong culture of the organisation,” said Stuart M. Brightman, Hunting’s company chair. “His leadership of the company since his appointment as chief executive in 2017 has been exceptional.”

Brightman added that Johnson has successfully led the repositioning of the group since 2020, particularly in its subsea and offshore businesses, leaving the company “in a strong position to capitalise on future energy and power demand.”

Johnson said it had been “a huge privilege” to lead the business over the last nine years.

“I am very proud of how Hunting has navigated a period of almost unprecedented change to emerge as one of the leading businesses in our sector,” Johnson said.

Hunting, established in 1874 and headquartered in London, operates in the U.S., China, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates. The company reports in U.S. dollars across five operating segments, including Hunting Titan, North America, Subsea Technologies, EMEA and Asia Pacific.

Further updates on the search process will be announced in due course.

The person responsible for releasing this announcement was Ben Willey, company secretary.
