PARIS: Renault Group, the French multinational automobile manufacturer, has reported a 9% increase in its worldwide sales in 2023, reaching a total of 2,235,345 vehicles sold over the year.
The Group attributed this impressive growth to its successful dynamic with three of its core brands: Renault, Dacia, and Alpine.
Renault, the best-selling French brand in the world, saw a 9.4% growth in its global sales, with 1,548,748 vehicles sold in 2023. In Europe, Renault outperformed the market by registering a 19.3% growth compared to 2022.
Dacia, the Romanian subsidiary of Renault, achieved a 14.7% growth in its sales, with 658,321 units sold in 2023. This performance was driven by Dacia’s strong new brand identity, which is based on its four pillar models: Sandero, Logan, Duster, and Jogger. All of these models recorded an increase in sales compared to 2022.
Alpine, the sports car division of Renault, also witnessed a 22.1% growth in its sales, with 4,328 vehicles sold in 2023. Alpine’s portfolio includes the A110, a lightweight two-seater sports car, and the A480, a hybrid prototype that competes in the World Endurance Championship.
In Europe, Renault Group benefited from its products offensive by gaining market share. The Group’s sales volumes rose by 18.6% in a market that grew by 13.9%. The Group’s retail sales accounted for 65% of its total sales in its five main countries in Europe: France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom. This reflects the Group’s commercial policy that is focused on value.
Renault Group also pursued its electrification offensive, in line with customer needs and environmental goals. The Group has made technological choices that are paying off and is accelerating its efforts in terms of energy transition.
Within the Renault brand, demand is growing for electrification, both hybrid and all-electric. In Europe, the brand is stepping up its offensive, taking the third place in electrified vehicles. This is thanks to the Megane E-Tech electric, which has a 2.2% market share of all-electric vehicles, and the success of its hybrid powertrains, which are in high demand. The Austral, Clio, and Captur models are among the top 10 hybrid vehicles in Europe.
Dacia is also embracing electrification, with its Jogger HYBRID 140 model, which was launched in January 2023. This model represents more than 25% of Jogger customer orders. Dacia Spring, the 100% electric city car, holds on to its place in the top three European retail electric vehicles sales.
Dacia will launch 2 new vehicles: New Dacia Duster on sale starting March 2024. The new 100% electric Dacia Spring, with an all-new design, both exterior and interior, will go on sale in summer 2024.
