LONDON, UK: Boku Inc, a leading provider of global mobile payment solutions, has announced that its Chief Executive Officer, Jon Prideaux, will retire from his role on 31 December 2023.
Jon, who has been at the helm of the Company since 2014, will remain on the Board as a non-executive director after his retirement.
The Company has also announced that Stuart Neal has re-joined the Company and has been appointed Chief Executive Designate. He is expected to join the Board and be appointed Chief Executive Officer on 1 January 2024. Stuart will work with Jon Prideaux to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities at the year end.
Stuart Neal has considerable relevant commercial experience and knowledge of Boku. He was Chief Financial Officer of Boku between 2012 and 2014 and between 2017 and 2019, and Chief Business Officer of Boku’s Identity division, which was sold to Twilio in 2022. He also held senior roles at Vocalink PaybyBankapp, Barclaycard, GlaxoSmithKline, Worldcom and Virgin Media.
The Non-executive Chairman of Boku, Dr Richard Hargreaves, said that he was disappointed that Jon had decided to retire, but pleased that he would continue to serve on the Board. He praised Jon’s contribution to the Group and said that Stuart stood out as someone with both an in-depth knowledge of Boku and detailed knowledge of card and account-to-account based payments. He said that he was confident that Stuart was the right person to lead the Group as it continues executing on its growth strategy.
Jon Prideaux said that he had reflected on his journey as part of Boku’s leadership for more than a decade and that he was proud of what the Group had achieved. He said that he believed it was the perfect time to pass the baton to someone who could lead the Company into its next chapter. He said that he knew Stuart well and that he was the ideal candidate to continue the strategy they had set out. He said that he would continue to support the Company as a non-executive director.
