OSLO, NORWAY: Norwegian Air Shuttle announced that due to customer demand the airline will reopen 76 routes from 1 July, 2020. The network will include both domestic routes and flights to other European countries.
The re-opening of flights is the result of recent increased demand from customers and is also in line with other airlines across Europe that are also resuming flights. More than 300 pilots and 600 cabin crew from the company’s bases in Norway will operate 20 aircraft, which means that approximately 200 pilots and 400 cabin crew will be brought back from lay-offs.
Since April, Norwegian has only operated eight aircraft on domestic routes in Norway. Now another 12 aircraft will re-join the fleet and be put into operation across Scandinavia to serve our popular core destinations. Destinations include Spain, Greece and key European cities. New protective safety measures introduced to further reduce the risk of infection.
“All our aircraft are fitted with an advanced air filtration system that removes bacteria and viruses in the air. It is the same technology that is used in hospitals and operation theatres. The air inside the cabin is filtered every three to four minutes so that our customers can feel safe that the air onboard is clean when travelling with us,” a bourse filing said.
Evidence suggests that the risk of becoming infected on board an aircraft is low. If suspicion arises that there is a case of infection on board, we have routines and equipment in place to handle it in a safe manner.
