Shuttle Commander on PlayStation

LONDON, UK: VR Education announced that the Group’s latest VR showcase experience, ‘Shuttle Commander’, will launch on Sony PlayStation on Tuesday, 3 December 2019. The VR showcase experience will retail at £21.99 in the UK, €24.99 in the EU and US$24.99 in the US.

Shuttle Commander is an accurate physics-based flight simulator experience, offering users the chance to take to the controls of NASA’s Discovery space shuttle and land it at a number of real-world landing sites, such as Kennedy Space Centre, White Sands Air Force Base and Edwards Air Force Base in an immersive virtual reality.

Players can experience the launch of the Hubble Space Telescope from the cockpit of the Discovery space shuttle in a real-time launch experience, using original NASA cockpit audio and mission data, as well as taking part in the deployment and servicing of the Hubble Space Telescope.

In addition, users are able to view some of the amazing solar system imagery from the Hubble Space Telescope which has been collecting data over the past 30 years from 568 kilometres above the Earth’s surface, changing our understanding of the universe.

VR Education, together with its wholly owned subsidiary, is an early stage VR software and technology group based in Waterford, Ireland, dedicated to transforming the delivery methods of education and corporate training by utilising VR technologies to deliver fully immersive virtual learning experiences.

David Whelan, CEO of VR Education, said: “Following on from our highly popular and award-winning experiences Apollo 11 VR, Titanic VR and 1943: Berlin Blitz, we are delighted to announce the release of our latest showcase title, Shuttle Commander, for PlayStation. This new space title will provide significantly expanded and differentiated content while building on the enthusiasm generated by our Apollo 11 title, which to date has sold over 215,000 copies and continues to show strong sales each month.  The launch of Shuttle Commander further increases assets and content for our ENGAGE platform where educators and corporate trainers can create their own learning content.”
