Maurel & Prom in advanced talks for potential acquisition of Assala Energy Holdings

PARIS, FRANCE: Etablissements Maurel & Prom S.A. (M&P) has announced that it is currently engaged in advanced discussions with the shareholder of Assala Energy Holdings Ltd regarding the potential acquisition of all the shares of Assala.

The discussions are underway, and if successful, M&P would acquire Assala in what is referred to as the “Proposed Acquisition.” Assala, operating in Gabon, is an onshore oil upstream and midstream company, reporting a working interest production of approximately 45,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd) in 2022.

While the negotiations are progressing, it is important to note that there is no guarantee that the parties will reach an agreement on final terms or that the Proposed Acquisition will ultimately be completed. The outcome of the discussions remains uncertain at this stage.

If the acquisition were to materialize, it would mark a significant milestone for Etablissements Maurel & Prom, expanding its portfolio and strengthening its presence in the oil and gas sector. Assala’s established position in Gabon’s onshore oil industry, along with its substantial working interest production, presents an attractive opportunity for M&P to further expand its operations.

The Proposed Acquisition aligns with M&P’s strategic objectives and its commitment to pursuing growth opportunities in the energy sector. As the negotiations progress, both parties will continue their efforts to reach mutually beneficial terms that satisfy all stakeholders involved.

Investors and industry observers will closely monitor the developments surrounding the potential acquisition, as the completion of the transaction would have a significant impact on both Etablissements Maurel & Prom and the broader oil and gas market in Gabon. Further updates will be provided as the discussions proceed and more clarity emerges regarding the feasibility of the Proposed Acquisition.

Please note that until an agreement is reached between the parties and the transaction is finalized, all information regarding the Proposed Acquisition should be considered as subject to change and contingent upon the successful conclusion of the negotiations.
