Amsterdam Schiphol Will Have Up To 40 Daily US Flights With JetBlue’s Arrival

JetBlue has announced plans to expand its European network by offering daily flights from New York JFK to Amsterdam starting on August 29th and Boston to Amsterdam on September 20th. Amsterdam will be the fourth European airport to be served by JetBlue, joining the ranks of Heathrow, Gatwick, and Paris Charles De Gaulle. This move makes Amsterdam the destination for non-stop flights to the US by five passenger airlines, with up to 40 daily services, which is not far off the record of 44 in 2019.

According to the latest data from Cirium, Amsterdam has 7,860 US flights this northern summer, including by JetBlue, from March 26th to October 28th. Delta is the largest airline in the market, primarily due to its SkyTeam status and KLM partnership. The SkyTeam alliance holds an 80% share of the market, with JetBlue being the only carrier not part of a global alliance. The last unaligned carriers were Norwegian to JFK (2018-2020) and TUI fly Netherlands to Orlando Sanford (until 2020).

Amsterdam’s US network in summer 2023 includes 18 non-stop destinations, which is less extensive than Heathrow (32), Frankfurt (28), or Paris CDG (20). However, it is broader than all other European airports, followed by Dublin (15), Keflavik (14), Munich (14), Rome (13), Istanbul (13), and Madrid (13).

As of April 29th and subject to change, Amsterdam will have up to 40 daily departures to the US between September 21st (the day of JetBlue’s first Amsterdam-Boston return flight) and October 28th (the end of the aviation northern summer season). Amsterdam has 266 departures to the US from September 21st to 27th, with the top 10 destinations being JFK, Los Angeles, Atlanta, San Francisco, Orlando, Miami, Boston, Seattle, Chicago, and Minneapolis. Due to JetBlue’s new flights, JFK cements its lead as the top destination, while Boston becomes joint-third with Atlanta.

Overall, JetBlue’s expansion into Amsterdam reflects the airline’s commitment to its long-term growth plans and signifies the increasing demand for transatlantic travel. With its exceptional service, JetBlue is sure to become a top choice for travelers to Europe and beyond.
