Gisy, a seasoned executive with a wealth of experience in the digital marketplace and e-commerce industry, will take the helm to drive the company’s strategic expansion in Europe and South Africa.
OLX Group, headquartered in Amsterdam, is recognized as one of the most rapidly expanding classified businesses worldwide. With over 73 million active listings and 13 million new postings each month, OLX is a cornerstone in the online trade ecosystem.
Christian Gisy’s appointment comes at a time when OLX Group is experiencing unprecedented growth. Ervin Tu, Interim CEO of Prosus, expressed his confidence in Gisy’s leadership, citing his deep understanding of the classifieds sector and his previous advisory role with the group. “Christian’s expertise as a CEO will bring invaluable insight and direction to OLX Group as we continue on our growth trajectory,” said Tu.
Gisy’s strategic focus will not only be on business performance and profitability but also on fostering innovation at the core of OLX’s strategy. He is set to leverage advancements in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to propel the classifieds space into new market opportunities and elevate customer standards.
“I am thrilled to join OLX and lead the business through its next phase of growth,” stated Gisy. “With OLX’s exceptional talent, brands, data, and technology, we are well-positioned to connect millions and facilitate online transactions. Moreover, our commitment to transformative technology, particularly AI, will enhance the circular economy and contribute to a more sustainable future.”
The outgoing CEO, Lydia Paterson, will transition to the role of Operating Partner, managing Prosus Classifieds portfolio investments outside of Europe and South Africa until her retirement at the end of the year. Tu commended Paterson for her remarkable leadership and her pivotal role in OLX’s journey.
Christian Gisy’s leadership is expected to usher in a new era for OLX Group, as the company continues to make strides in the global online marketplace industry.
