Wipro Limited names Srini Pallia new CEO, as Thierry Delaporte steps down

Wipro Limited (NYSE: WIT, BSE: 507685, NSE: WIPRO), a global frontrunner in technology services and consulting, has appointed Srini Pallia as its new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director. The announcement comes as Thierry Delaporte, who has been credited with leading a substantial transformation at Wipro over the past four years, steps down to explore new avenues outside of his professional career.

Srini Pallia, a Wipro veteran with over thirty years at the company, ascends to the helm after his recent tenure as the CEO of Americas 1, Wipro’s largest and most rapidly expanding strategic market. During his leadership, Pallia has been instrumental in steering diverse industry sectors towards a robust growth trajectory, significantly boosting their market presence.

Rishad Premji, Chairman of Wipro Ltd., praised Pallia’s appointment, stating, “Srini is the quintessential leader to steer Wipro at this critical juncture. His deep-rooted client focus, growth-oriented mindset, and unwavering commitment to our core values uniquely position him to lead our next phase of growth and profitability.”

Premji also expressed his heartfelt thanks to Delaporte for his transformative leadership, which has fortified Wipro’s future prospects through structural optimization, leadership enhancement, and strategic partnerships. Delaporte will remain with the company until the end of May to facilitate a seamless transition alongside Pallia and Premji.

Pallia’s journey with Wipro began in 1992, and he has since held several key leadership roles, including President of Wipro’s Consumer Business Unit and Global Head of Business Application Services. His extensive experience and proven leadership capabilities are expected to navigate Wipro through the evolving technological landscape.

A distinguished alumnus of the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, Pallia holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering and a master’s in management studies. He is also a graduate of Harvard Business School’s Leading Global Businesses executive program and the Advanced Leadership Program at McGill Executive Institute.

Srini Pallia will be operating from New Jersey, directly reporting to Chairman Rishad Premji, as he takes on the mantle to drive Wipro forward.

Commenting on his appointment, Srini Pallia said, “Wipro is one of those rare companies that combines profit with purpose, and I am truly honored to have been chosen to lead this iconic institution. I am excited to build on the strong foundation established by Thierry and lead Wipro on its next growth trajectory. I have built my entire career at Wipro, and I have a deep appreciation of our 78-year history and our incredible team of more than 240,000 associates. We have the right strategy, and tremendous people and capabilities throughout the organization, and I am excited about the opportunities for future growth.”

Thierry Delaporte said, “I’m grateful to Rishad and the Board for the opportunity to lead Wipro through a period of significant transformation. I am proud of the solid foundation we have laid for Wipro’s future success. In the four years we have worked together, Srini has built a successful business in our largest market of Americas 1 and has become an important strategic partner to our clients. As I pass the torch to Srini, I’m confident he’ll continue our journey, steering us to greater heights.”
