QuantumScape Corporation, a leader in next-generation solid-state lithium-metal battery technology, has appointed Dr. Siva Sivaram as its new CEO and board member, effective February 15, 2024. Dr. Sivaram, a semiconductor and data storage industry veteran, joined QuantumScape as President in September 2023 from Western Digital Corp.
Dr. Sivaram will succeed co-founder and CEO Jagdeep Singh, who will continue to serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors. Mr. Singh initiated the succession planning process early last year, looking for a leader with extensive experience in scaling and manufacturing complex technology products.
QuantumScape is preparing for the commercial launch of its first product, QSE-5, a solid-state lithium-metal battery that promises to revolutionize the electric vehicle industry. The company has achieved several important milestones in the past year, including demonstrating the performance and durability of its prototype cells, securing a follow-on offering, strengthening its partnerships with OEMs, and collaborating with PowerCo, a joint venture with Volkswagen Group.
Both Mr. Singh and Dr. Sivaram expressed their excitement and confidence in QuantumScape’s mission and vision, as well as their gratitude and respect for each other. They also acknowledged the challenges and opportunities ahead, and vowed to work together to bring QuantumScape’s technology to market.
The company’s board and key stakeholders, including PowerCo CEO Frank Blome and QuantumScape co-founder and CTO Tim Holme, welcomed Dr. Sivaram’s appointment and praised Mr. Singh’s leadership and achievements. They also reaffirmed their commitment and support for QuantumScape’s future growth.
