Europe’s intelligent automation market shifts to hyperautomation and GenAI

Posted on February 1, 2024February 1, 2024

LONDON: A new research report by Information Services Group (ISG), a leading global technology research and advisory firm, reveals that Europe’s intelligent automation landscape is entering a new phase, driven by enterprise demand for hyperautomation and the emergence of generative AI (GenAI) as a major technology disruptor.

Hyperautomation is the ability to drive end-to-end intelligent automation across complex processes and organizational functions, which is key to advancing digital transformation efforts, the report says. Service providers play a vital role in helping enterprises achieve hyperautomation by offering strategic consulting, industry expertise, and change management capabilities.

GenAI is another game-changer in the intelligent automation market, as it enables advanced search, prediction, simulation, and creative work, such as generating custom emails, research reports, and software code, the report says. Most leading providers are already investing in GenAI capabilities and developing use cases for intelligent automation initiatives.

However, the report also warns of the challenges and risks of GenAI and hyperautomation, such as regulatory, ethical, and cultural issues, especially in Europe’s diverse environment. Automation solutions need to be localized and respect language and cultural differences, the report says.

The report evaluates the capabilities of 37 providers across three quadrants: Intelligent Enterprise Automation, Artificial Intelligence for IT Operations (AIOps), and Next-Gen Automation. It names Accenture, Capgemini, and Tietoevry as Leaders in all three quadrants, and Cognizant, HCLTech, TCS, and Wipro as Leaders in two quadrants each. Eviden (Atos) and Infosys are Leaders in one quadrant each, while EXL and Wipro are Rising Stars in one quadrant each.
