Mayfield Group to acquire Nilsen switchboards division for $4 million

ADELAIDE: Mayfield Group Holdings Ltd. has entered into a binding agreement to acquire the Switchboards Division of Nilsen (SA) Pty Ltd for $4 million in cash, the company announced Monday.

The acquisition includes the N-Series product line and associated intellectual property, along with the expected transfer of about 66 employees, customer contracts, inventory and manufacturing assets. The Nilsen brand and its corporate operations are not part of the transaction.

Andrew Rowe, group chief executive officer of Mayfield Group, said the deal is focused on strengthening the company’s workforce and manufacturing capacity.

“This transaction is first and foremost about people and capability,” Rowe said. “Their expertise, together with the transfer of the N-Series intellectual property and product platform, is expected to strengthen our manufacturing capability and support utilisation of our Royal Park facility.”

The acquisition includes $3.9 million in new work-in-hand and is expected to generate $10 million to $15 million in revenue during fiscal year 2027 following completion, which is forecast for July 31. A staged transfer of employees and assets will continue through Oct. 31 to ensure a smooth transition.

Completion remains subject to customary conditions precedent, including employee transfer thresholds and the satisfactory transfer of customer contracts. Mayfield said there is no certainty of completion until those conditions are satisfied or waived.

The deal represents Mayfield’s third strategic acquisition in 12 months and advances the company’s electrical infrastructure strategy in Australia. The Royal Park manufacturing facility, acquired in January 2026, is expected to benefit from increased utilisation through the expanded operating scale.

The N-Series platform is a proven switchboard range used across commercial, industrial, infrastructure, defence, mining, utilities and data centre markets. The acquisition also brings additional engineering, estimating and project management capability to Mayfield.

Oliver Mark Nilsen, executive chairman at Nilsen, said the company found a partner that understands the value of its workforce and customer relationships.

“We are pleased by the opportunity for the business, employees expected to transfer, and our product offering to become part of a group with the capability to support future growth while respecting the legacy that has been created,” Nilsen said.

Mayfield Group Holdings Ltd., listed on the Australian Securities Exchange as MYG, designs and manufactures electrical infrastructure for energy, data centre, defence and mining sectors. The company operates manufacturing facilities in Adelaide, Perth and Kalgoorlie, with service operations across mainland state capitals.
