MIAMI: Ardurra Group Inc., a top U.S. engineering firm, has acquired Tampa-based Janus Research Inc., a 40-year-old cultural resource management (CRM) specialist, in a move that strengthens its ability to handle preservation-related projects in Florida.
The deal positions Ardurra, ranked #75 on Engineering News-Record’s Top 500 list, as one of the state’s top three CRM providers. Janus’s 21-person team will integrate with Ardurra while continuing operations from Tampa, bringing expertise in archaeological assessments, historic preservation, and regulatory compliance for infrastructure and development projects.
“Janus has built an exceptional reputation in Florida’s CRM market,” said Ardurra CEO Ernesto Aguilar. “Their expertise and relationships will enhance what we offer clients as demand grows for preservation-sensitive development.”
Founded in 1979, Janus has worked on projects balancing Florida’s rapid growth with protections for historic sites, ensuring compliance with laws like the National Historic Preservation Act. President Ken Hardin said the merger allows the firm to scale its impact while maintaining its standards. “Ardurra shares our commitment to quality,” he noted.
The acquisition reflects Ardurra’s broader strategy to expand its environmental and planning services amid rising federal infrastructure spending and stricter preservation mandates. Financial terms were not disclosed.
