Tower CFO Johnston to serve as interim CEO as Turnbull resigns

Posted on January 23, 2025January 23, 2025

WELLINGTON: Tower, a prominent New Zealand insurer, has announced that its current Chief Financial Officer, Paul Johnston, will assume the role of interim Chief Executive Officer starting February 13, 2025. The transition follows the resignation of Blair Turnbull, who will step down on February 12.

Johnston, who joined Tower as CFO in January 2022, brings considerable international experience in insurance and financial services. His extensive background in strategy and operational leadership positions him well to guide the organization through this transition.

Pending satisfactory completion of regulatory requirements, Angus Shelton, Tower’s Deputy CFO since 2017, will take over as interim CFO. Shelton boasts substantial finance experience across the insurance and banking sectors.

The Board’s search for a permanent CEO is ongoing.
