MELBOURNE, Fla.: SMTC Corporation, a North American leader in electronics manufacturing services, has appointed Mike Buseman as its new President and CEO, effective May 13, 2024. Buseman, with over three decades of industry experience, succeeds Ed Smith, who will take on the role of Executive Chairman of the Board.
Buseman’s extensive background includes leadership roles at Zentech Manufacturing, Plexus, Avnet, and Benchmark Electronics. His expertise in manufacturing operations and supply chain management is expected to steer SMTC towards continued growth and innovation.
Ed Smith, who has led SMTC since 2017 and overseen a doubling of revenue, will focus on strategic leadership in his new position. Smith expressed confidence in Buseman’s abilities, citing a longstanding professional relationship and Buseman’s track record.
Buseman expressed his commitment to building upon the foundation laid by Smith, aiming to drive strategy and deliver outcomes for customers, employees, and stakeholders. He will also join the company’s Board of Directors.
SMTC, known for its high mix and low-to-medium volume production, operates over 50 manufacturing lines across the U.S. and Mexico. The company serves OEMs and emerging tech companies in various sectors, including Avionics, Aerospace, Defense, and Medical, offering services from product design to end-of-life management.
