Pagero

Thomson Reuters, a global content and technology company, has completed its acquisition of Pagero, a Swedish company that provides e-invoicing and indirect tax solutions, for approximately $800 million.

The deal is the sixth one for Thomson Reuters since the start of 2023, adding to its portfolio of products and services that help customers navigate complex regulatory environments.

Pagero operates a Smart Business Network that connects customers, suppliers and authorities in over 80 countries, enabling automated, secure and compliant exchange of invoices and other documents. The network integrates with customers’ ERP systems and is compatible with various e-invoicing mandates.

Thomson Reuters and Pagero have been strategic partners since 2022, and share a vision for a globally connected suite of e-invoicing capabilities. The acquisition will allow Thomson Reuters to offer Pagero’s solutions as part of its ONESOURCE suite, which helps customers manage their tax and trade obligations.

Steve Hasker, President and CEO of Thomson Reuters, said: “We are excited by the unique potential of Pagero’s Smart Business Network and fully recognize the significant value this open ecosystem provides to customers, suppliers and authorities. We will continue to invest in Pagero as we work through a thoughtful and gradual integration, bringing benefits to our shared customers, partners and colleagues.”

Bengt Nilsson, CEO of Pagero, said: “We are very excited to become part of Thomson Reuters. The interest shown in Pagero is confirmation of both our market position and the great products and service we deliver to our customers and partners. Our joint forces and combined offering create unparalleled value in the market and I am looking forward to continuing our journey towards building the world’s largest business network for automated, secure and compliant business transactions.”

Thomson Reuters plans to leverage Pagero’s brand and network to deliver additional compliance offerings across its portfolio, including Global Trade Management, Supply Chain and Vendor Risk. Pagero will report into Thomson Reuters Corporates segment, and its CEO will report to Hasker.
