The deal, which is expected to be completed by May 31, 2024, will allow Groupe Berkem to increase its production capacity and meet the growing demand for sustainable solutions in the food, nutrition and cosmetic markets.

Groupe Berkem will also benefit from the expertise of the 47 employees from the Valencia site, who will join its business unit “Health, Beauty and Nutrition”.

Givaudan, the world leader in flavors and fragrances, will continue to produce marine ingredients on the site through a long-term partnership with Groupe Berkem.

Olivier FAHY, CEO of Groupe Berkem, said: “This new structuring acquisition allows us to continue the internationalization dynamic initiated last year with our establishment in North America. The site we are acquiring, on which we plan to make significant investments, should enable us to strengthen our industrial tool dedicated to plant extraction.”

Alex Wild, Head of Operations Taste & Wellbeing at Givaudan, said: “We are convinced that the agreement concluded today opens up new perspectives for the industrial site of Valencia and its teams. Our teams will now work hand in hand to ensure a smooth transition guaranteeing the continuity of our operations and the quality of our services.”

Groupe Berkem, which was targeting an EBITDA margin of around 25% by 2025, now expects to achieve this objective by 2027, due to the additional expenses generated by this external growth operation.
