Lenovo unveils self-powered mouse and keyboard at CES 2024

self-powered mouse and keyboard

At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 in Las Vegas, Lenovo has revealed a new concept for a mouse and keyboard combo that does not require any external power source. The Mechanical Energy Harvesting Combo, as it is called, uses the motion of typing and solar energy to generate electricity for both devices.

The mouse has a small hand crank at the bottom that can be rotated a few times to provide enough power for about 30 minutes of wireless use. The keyboard has two alternative power sources: a bank of solar panels that can charge it and a dial on the top left corner that works similarly to the mouse crank. By spinning the dial for a few minutes, the keyboard can be powered for 30 minutes as well.

The Mechanical Energy Harvesting Combo is only a proof of concept at this stage, and Lenovo has not announced any plans to make it available for consumers. However, the concept showcases Lenovo’s vision for environmentally friendly and durable technology that can last for a long time without needing batteries or cables.

The Mechanical Energy Harvesting Combo is one of the most innovative and interesting products at CES 2024, where sustainable technology is a major theme. Lenovo is demonstrating its commitment to not only enhancing the consumer experience, but also reducing the environmental impact of its products and their effects on the planet.
