Graft Polymer joins international consortium to develop graphene-based electromagnetic shielding materials

LONDON, UK: Graft Polymer, (LSE:GPL) a multi-sector specialist chemical company, has announced an agreement to join a consortium of French, German and Slovenian partners to develop new graphene-based composites for electromagnetic interference shielding. The consortium is coordinated by the Vinca Institute of Nuclear Sciences at the University of Belgrade and funded by the HORIZON CSA programme.

The project, named GrinShield, aims to explore the potential of new nanomaterials to act as a protective barrier against electromagnetic waves (EWs) emitted from electronic devices, which can cause pollution, interference and health concerns. The project will use Graft Polymer’s proprietary products, GRAFTALLOY® MP-UHMWPE and GRAFTASYNT® G-NE & GRAFTASYNT® D-Graphene, which have unique properties such as high impact, abrasion, chemical and radiation resistance, as well as electrical conductivity, thermal stability and mechanical strength.

The agreement is expected to last until autumn 2025 and generate samples for testing and a joint R&D report. The outcome of the project has potential to have a significant economic impact on the electronics industry.
