A Boston-based company that makes eco-friendly coatings, DetraPel, secured $7.6M in a Series A round of funding.
The lead investor was Material Impact, joined by others such as INX International, Touchdown Ventures, and FitzGate Ventures. Adam Sharkawy, a Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Material Impact, will join the Board of Directors of DetraPel in July 2023.
The funding will help DetraPel expand its industrial and consumer divisions, which have been rebranded as Impermea Materials and ProofPlus, respectively.
DetraPel is a leader in creating PFAS-free and Fluorine-Free protective coatings that are derived from bio-based materials. Its innovative technology platform enables the mixing and dispersing of incompatible particles in water-based systems.
Impermea Materials offers its patented coatings to various industries such as paper & paperboard packaging, textiles, healthcare, etc. The coatings enhance the performance of products while reducing environmental impact by maintaining recyclability, repulpability & compostability.
Impermea Materials has already partnered with large paper suppliers and consumer packaged goods companies.
