Millions of UK households could still receive up to £900 worth of cost of living payments over the next few months, Mirror reports.
The government is giving out three cost of living payments to help millions of UK households with rising bills. The payments are worth £301, £300 and £299 each, and are expected to be sent out in spring 2023, autumn 2023 and spring 2024 respectively.
To qualify for these payments, you need to be receiving one of the following benefits during a certain period: • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) • Income Support • Pension Credit • Universal Credit • Child Tax Credit • Working Tax Credit
The qualifying period for each payment has not been announced yet, but for the first one, you had to be on one of these benefits between January 26, 2023 and February 25, 2023. You would still be eligible if you were later found to have a valid claim during this period. However, you would not be eligible if your benefit was reduced to £0 for the qualifying period.
The first payment of £301 was sent out between April 25, 2023 and May 17, 2023 to more than eight million households. The exact dates for the second and third payments have not been revealed yet, but they are likely to be similar to the first one. You do not need to apply for these payments, as they will be automatically paid into your bank account if you are eligible.
