LONDON, UK: Mincon Group plc, the Irish engineering group specialising in rock drilling tools and consumable products, has announced the appointment of Tom Purcell as its new Chief Operations Officer (COO) with immediate effect.
Tom, who has been with the Group for 24 years in various roles, will oversee the daily operations of the company with a focus on its global business of manufacturing, sales, marketing and service. He will also continue to serve as an Executive Director on the Board.
Tom most recently served as vice president for the company’s Americas region, where he led the significant growth of the Group’s business in the mining, construction and water well markets. He also expanded the Group’s manufacturing, sales and service footprint and built a strong cohesive team in the region.
The Group Chairman, Hugh McCullough, said that Tom’s appointment as COO will provide further leadership and augment the ability of the operations function to drive the success of the Group. He praised Tom’s contribution to the Group in his time here and said he was delighted to announce his appointment.
The Group Chief Executive, Joe Purcell, said that he was looking forward to working more closely with Tom and that his appointment will strengthen the management team and improve the focus on the day-to-day running of the business. He also said that the appointment will ensure that the management of the Group is better resourced to capitalise on the exciting opportunities that are being developed through the product development programs.
Tom Purcell said that he was excited and honoured to step into the role of COO and look forward to working with the wider Mincon group in implementing the strategic objectives, growing the company’s business, and directing the day-to-day management of the company.
