OSLO, NORWAY: MPC Energy Solutions (MPCES), a global renewable energy company, has announced its entry into Panama to enhance its ambition to significantly expand its project pipeline in Latin America.

The company will focus on ground-mounted solar PV and has identified sites and grid connection capacity for combined 60-70 MWp, with immediate development works starting. MPCES aims to reach 800 MW of ready-to-build projects in the region by 2025 and to achieve 1,000 MW of sustainable energy assets across Latin America and the Caribbean by 2027.

Fernando Zúñiga, Managing Director Latin America and Caribbean of MPC Energy Solutions, said that Panama’s excellent solar irradiation and well-functioning and mature electricity market, among other factors, make it an attractive market to develop economically viable renewable assets.

Panama has committed to generating 50% of its electricity from renewables by 2050, including solar and wind, to accelerate its commitment to tackling climate change and meeting its growing energy demands.
