HMD Global is gearing up for the launch of a new rugged smartphone, which will be the successor to Nokia XR20. The company has not officially commented on the upcoming release, but reliable leaker Roland Quandt has shared several images and specifications of the device.
Initially, it was believed that the phone would be called Nokia XR30, but Quandt later clarified that it would actually be named Nokia XR21.
The Nokia XR21 will retain the thick edges and textured back panel of its predecessor, likely to provide better grip.
It will be powered by a chipset with a 5G modem, possibly the Snapdragon 695, and will come with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It is unclear whether there will be other memory options.
The phone will feature a 6.49-inch IPS display with a 1080p resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The fingerprint scanner will be integrated into the power button.
The Nokia XR21 will have a triple camera setup on the back, consisting of a 64MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a dual-tone LED flash. The front-facing camera will be 16MP.
The Nokia XR21 is expected to have a 4,600mAh battery that supports 33W wired charging. The phone will also come with a 3.5mm headphone jack and two nano-SIM card slots.
The release date has not been leaked, but according to Quandt, the device will cost $499 and will receive OS and security updates until 2026 and 2027, respectively.
