LONDON: WANdisco, the LiveData company, announced the go-to-market launch of its LiveData Platform for Azure in public preview.
The Platform is being launched by Microsoft as the preferred solution for Hadoop data lake migrations to Azure, accompanied by a go-to-market campaign.
This launch is of great significance to WANdisco and marks the culmination of years of co-development with Microsoft and the beginning of the next stage in the product’s maturity as an Azure native solution.
WANdisco’s LiveData Platform for Azure enables Hadoop data lake migrations to be managed through the Azure portal. Data migration can be initiated in minutes and with zero business downtime, compared to other cost or time prohibitive alternatives.
As described by Jurgen Willis, General Manager Azure Engineering/Azure Storage, in Microsoft’s blog post launching the service, “enterprises are increasingly looking to leverage Azure analytics services (e.g. Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse) to build transformative and secure analytical services”.
As part of the go-to-market campaign, LiveData Migrator will be a featured listing in the Azure portal for Storage, Migration and in the overall Marketplace featured applications giving significant prominence to the solution. Alongside the launch there will also be an acceleration of internal enablement and promotion amongst Microsoft sellers.
Following the delivery of this significant strategic milestone in line with our expected timeline and go-to-market activity by Microsoft, the Board re-iterates its confidence in the guidance given to the market at the time of its interim results.
The Company will host an analyst presentation today at 14.00pm GMT to discuss the announcement, to attend please use this link here.
WANdisco CEO and Chairman David Richards, commented: “This is a defining moment in the Company’s history. Alongside Microsoft, we have worked hard over the last 15 months to co-engineer a turnkey experience for Azure customers migrating business-critical Hadoop to Azure.
“We are confident that with the ongoing support from Microsoft, this will open up more opportunities to our addressable market by removing the complexity and risk of migration for all customers. Enterprises can now accelerate their Digital Transformation and take advantage of the insights from analytical services in Azure.
“We are confident in achieving our goals for 2021, including the signing of over 50 customers on Azure and migrating at least 100PB of data.”
Dawit Alemu, Technical Architecture Lead Analytics CoE, Johnson Controls, said: “We were intrigued by Analytics services on Azure and wanted to use them to make data-driven decisions more effectively but migrating Hadoop data lakes is a problem we have had for some time. We were very happy to try the new WANdisco LiveData Platform for Azure and were able to quickly migrate our data without issues. We were also impressed that we could manage our migration entirely through the Azure portal.”
