Dev Clever launches PubPal to facilitate mobile ordering and payment 1
New Government guidelines have meant that pubs and restaurants need to rethink the way in which they operate with technology playing an essential part to reduce human interaction, yet at the same time being able to continue to provide pub and venue goers with the best service.

LONDON: Dev Clever, an innovative developer of mobile and immersive experiences, announced that its Agency Services division has recently launched PubPal, a mobile and contactless ordering and payment service to support the independent hospitality sector as operators start to reopen following COVID-19 closures.

PubPal, a Software-as-a-Service (“SaaS”) platform, has been designed as a stand-alone ordering and payment solution.  It provides venue operators with a light touch mobile ordering system that doesn’t require clients to download a mobile app.

PubPal reduces the need for physical interaction between pub goers and employees delivering an efficient contactless ordering capability that is easily implemented across independent venues with no upfront cost or need to have a compatible Electronic Point of Sale.

Using PubPal, pub and venue goers can scan a QR code from table cards to view the venue’s menu; select the items they want to order and seamlessly pay directly from their mobile phones. The innovative ordering and payment application is an extension of the Company’s existing service engagement platform, and allows operators and their clients to immediately benefit from digital activations, rewards and loyalty mechanics.

Dev Clever generates revenue by levying a small fixed fee on each transaction. Additionally, PubPal can record user data and therefore aids ‘Test and Trace’, pro-actively assisting pubs and venues to keep their clients safe and in line with new Government requirements.

Chris Jeffries, CEO Dev Clever, said: “Alongside our key proprietary Educate platform, our Agency Services division continues to make real progress including substantial new client wins.  It already supports various leading hospitality operators and we are confident that this innovative offering will help the independent sector as it commences re-opening.  New Government guidelines have meant that pubs and restaurants need to rethink the way in which they operate with technology playing an essential part to reduce human interaction, yet at the same time being able to continue to provide pub and venue goers with the best service.

“Managing and handling challenging new COVID-19 requirements is made easier by utilising our PubPal service which is also going to deliver significant long term cost efficiency and revenue benefits for operators beyond the easing of the lockdown, alongside enhancing the overall client service offering.

“In the UK there are more than 48 000 pubs, with over 40% of those independent.  We are confident that the PubPal represents a meaningful opportunity for the Group’s Agency Services division further substantiated by the good recent platform volume uptake.”

Dev Clever Holdings plc, together with its wholly owned subsidiary Dev Clever Limited, is a software and technology group based in Tamworth, United Kingdom, specialising in the use of lightweight integrations of cloud-based gamification and VR technologies to deliver rich customer engagement experiences across both the commercial and education sectors.
