Better Collective, a leading sports betting media group, has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Playmaker Capital, a digital sports media group with a strong presence in the Americas.
The deal is expected to close before the end of Q1 2024, subject to regulatory and shareholder approvals.
Playmaker Capital owns a portfolio of sports media brands, including Futbol Sites, Yardbarker and The Nation Network (TNN), which collectively attract over 200 million visits per month across North and South America. The acquisition will enable Better Collective to reach millions of sports fans in the US and Latin America, as well as diversify its revenue streams and product offerings.
The acquisition follows Better Collective’s recent achievement in July 2023, when it completed the acquisition of Playmaker HQ, a sports and entertainment media platform with over 20 million followers across its platforms. Moreover, Better Collective appointed Pernille Holbøll as Senior Director of Group AI Editorial Content & Editorial Innovation recently.
Better Collective reported a strong performance in Q2 2023, with a 39% increase in revenue to €78.1m ($83.4) and a 115% increase in EBITDA to €27.5m compared to the same period last year.
Jesper Søgaard, Co-founder & CEO of Better Collective, stated: “Acquiring Playmaker Capital is in many ways transformational for Better Collective and will be an important milestone in our journey towards becoming a leading digital sports media group.”
