Armada Materials, LLC, a new infrastructure materials and services company, has announced its formation and its first acquisition. The company was founded by Rob Duke, a veteran of the construction materials industry, along with a group of investors including Kelso & Company, L.P., a middle-market buyout private equity firm.
Armada has acquired Volunteer Materials and its affiliate companies, which produce and provide aggregates, asphalt, ready-mix concrete, road paving and striping services in the greater Nashville area. Volunteer owns high-quality limestone reserves with proximity to the fast growing I-65 corridor south of Nashville.
Armada aims to build a leading business through strategic acquisitions of private owners in the infrastructure materials and services sector. Armada’s CEO Rob Duke said he was thrilled to partner with Kelso and Volunteer and that he had assembled a premier group of leaders and advisors with a shared vision. Kelso’s managing directors Sandy Osborne and Matt Edgerton said they were excited about the partnership and eager to support Armada’s growth.
