Samsung has launched its largest OLED TV ever, the 83-inch S90C, but it has a surprising twist: it uses an OLED panel from its rival LG. The TV, which is priced at $5,400 in the US, is the first Samsung OLED TV to use LG’s WOLED technology, while the smaller models use Samsung’s own QD-OLED technology.
The 83-inch S90C OLED TV offers a 4K resolution, a 144Hz variable refresh rate, HDR10+, and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro. It also has a Neural Quantum Processor, Tizen 7.0 OS, 40W speakers, Dolby Atmos support, and various smart features. It is compatible with Alexa, Bixby, Google Assistant, AirPlay 2, and Wireless DeX. It also has a SolarCell Remote that can charge itself using ambient light.
The TV is aimed at gamers and streamers, as it offers Game Bar, Samsung Gaming Hub, Super Ultrawide Game View, and access to various cloud gaming services. However, it does not support Dolby Vision HDR or have the One Connect Box or Zero Gap Wall Mount that are available with the S95C model.
Samsung has not announced the release date of the 83-inch S90C OLED TV yet. You can sign up for it on Samsung’s website. A similar-sized OLED TV from LG costs $5,300 in the US.
