Vinci Games, a San Francisco-based virtual reality (VR) game studio, has announced the successful closing of its seed funding round, raising $5.1 million. Makers Fund led the round, with participation from Y Combinator, Soma Capital, Pioneer Fund, Anorak Ventures, BonAngels, and Twitch co-founder Kevin Lin.
The funding will be utilized for the development of Vinci Games’ first game, Blacktop Hoops, a competitive, socially driven VR basketball experience. The game is set to offer a new and immersive way of playing basketball, leveraging the latest advancements in VR technology.
Blacktop Hoops features intuitive dribbling, dunking, and shooting basketball mechanics, specifically designed for VR. The game offers a unique experience that allows players to feel like they are playing streetball in real life, with full-body avatars and immersive environments.
Founded by CEO Nathaniel Ventura, formerly at Oculus, and CTO Maciej Szcześnik, Vinci Games is a game studio focused on building competitive virtual reality sports games. The team is made up of passionate and experienced game developers, who have a deep understanding of both the VR industry and the sports world.

Blacktop Hoops is currently available for free Beta access on Quest App Lab and Steam.
