Quadient to expand parcel locker network in UK with two new host partners

PARIS, FRANCE: Quadient, a company that helps businesses establish customer connections through digital and physical channels, has announced its plan to expand its Parcel Pending by Quadient Open Locker Network in the UK.

The company has entered into agreements with two new host partners, APCOA and Rontec, that represent over 1,000 potential sites for lockers. The expansion aims to bring convenience to users by allowing them to pick up, send, and return parcels at their convenience through lockers available in almost any configuration, indoor or outdoor.

The locker network represents a new era of convenience for users as it allows consumers to pick up, send and return parcels at any time of the day. The lockers’ in-built label printers mean users can easily send returns or other parcels without needing to have a pre-printed label or access to a printer at home. The lockers are robust, modular and secure, ensuring that parcels are not damaged or stolen. Quadient’s goal is to roll out 5,000 open locker locations across the UK.

APCOA, one of the two new host partners, is the leading parking mobility technology and solutions provider in the UK and Ireland. APCOA will offer carrier-agnostic lockers to its customers, providing them with another value-added service. APCOA has invested heavily in using technology to help its customers, from convenient booking and payment systems to installing EV charging points. The company is also rolling out “urban mobility hubs” that convert existing parking locations into distribution and logistics centres for greener, more efficient last-mile deliveries. These lockers will help APCOA’s customers make fewer journeys, reducing their fuel use and costs while creating a more sustainable environment.

Rontec, the second host partner, is one of the leading players in the UK forecourt industry, operating 264 roadside retail forecourts under the Esso, BP and Shell brands. The company aims to provide everything its customers might need at their forecourts, including parcel lockers. The lockers will enable drivers to pick up parcels while refuelling, reducing the number of journeys they need to make. This will make drivers’ lives easier, while also reducing traffic on nearby roads, easing congestion and lowering emissions in local communities.

Quadient’s expansion into the UK with its parcel locker solutions provides benefits at all levels, from hosts who can open up new revenue streams through fees and increased footfall, to carriers who can reach more customers more efficiently with fewer stops, to consumers who can send and receive parcels securely at their own convenience. Quadient is also looking forward to helping these hosts realise the full benefits of being part of its open locker network and continuing to expand its footprint with more carriers and location partners.
