Stephen White appointed Chairman of BASC Board

LONDON, UK: The Board of Directors of Brown Advisory US Smaller Companies PLC (BASC) announced that Stephen White has now taken over as Chairman of the investment trust.

Stephen, who joined the Board on 1st October 2020 as Chairman Designate, takes over from Gordon Grender, who steps down after 23 years as Chairman and 28 years as a director.

Stephen qualified as a Chartered Accountant at PwC before starting a career in investment management. He has more than 35 years’ investment experience, most notably as head of European equities at F&C Asset Management, where he was manager of F&C Eurotrust plc and deputy manager of the F&C Investment Trust plc, and as head of European and US equities at British Steel Pension Fund.

He has extensive and highly relevant experience of investment trusts and overseas investing. He is currently a non-executive director and chairman of the audit committees of BlackRock Frontiers Investment Trust plc and Aberdeen New India Investment Trust plc and a non-executive director of JPMorgan European Discovery Trust plc, as well as Polar Capital Technology Trust plc.
