Good Energy launches EV charging for UK businesses

LONDON: Good Energy Group, the 100% renewable electricity supplier and innovative energy services provider, has launched One Point, a new electric vehicle (EV) charging offering for UK businesses alongside the first pilot of the scheme with Watergate Bay Hotel in Cornwall.

The electric vehicle (EV) market is currently fragmented and complex, but it will soon be essential for UK businesses to offer charging. Good Energy is offering a new solution to make it easier for businesses to install chargers and to secure available network capacity.

Good Energy has recently installed four EV chargers for Watergate Bay Hotel. The points are embedded with smart load balancing technology, so the chargers can turn off or on to level out peaks and troughs in supply and demand on the local network.

The number of electric vehicles on the road is expected to top 1,000,000 by 2022, amounting to 3% of road traffic, or three EV chargers for every 100 car parking spaces. Meanwhile, around 40% of UK homes do not have access to off street parking, meaning destination and workplace charging will be important for large numbers of drivers. Good Energy has identified this as both an opportunity for businesses and crucial for the decarbonisation of the UK’s transport system.

Good Energy is focused on the installation of EV charging points as it facilitates the creation of a streamlined and reliable EV charging supply chain. The aim is to save businesses both time and money while cutting carbon. Good Energy will use the learnings from the Watergate Bay Hotel pilot to expand the full offering to businesses up and down the country.

The new product is Good Energy’s latest move into the electric vehicle and energy sharing market. Earlier this year, the company took a 12.9% stake in Zap-Map, the UKs leading EV digital charging platform.

Juliet Davenport, Founder and CEO of Good Energy said: “Businesses across the UK are responding to the climate emergency, and many of them have already committed to 100% renewable electricity. With the launch of One Point, Good Energy is going one step further by offering businesses a simple, easy-to-use service allowing their customers and employees to go 100% renewable in their electric vehicles, helping decarbonise the transport industry. This is a really exciting progression in Good Energy’s low carbon journey.”
