LONDON: Hydropulse, the newly launched build-own-operate subsidiary of ITM Power plc, has entered into a strategic partnership with ABO Energy, a global renewable energy developer, to fast-track green hydrogen projects across Europe.
The collaboration aims to combine ABO Energy’s industrial offtaker network and international development pipeline with Hydropulse’s modular hydrogen production capabilities, powered by ITM’s electrolyser technology. The companies plan to deliver Hydrogen-as-a-Service and Infrastructure-as-a-Service solutions, enabling industrial clients to access clean hydrogen without upfront capital investment.
Under the agreement, decentralised hydrogen production units will be developed near end-user sites, with Hydropulse responsible for construction and operation, and ABO Energy managing permitting, power supply, and project development. Initial focus markets include Spain and Finland, where low electricity prices offer favorable conditions for green hydrogen production.
“This is about market traction,” said Dennis Schulz, CEO of ITM Power. “With ABO Energy’s access to sites and end users, we can realise projects faster and turn our technology into recurring revenues.”
Karsten Schlageter, Managing Director of ABO Energy, called the partnership a “breakthrough moment” for hydrogen deployment. “We can now offer our customers a one-stop solution from development to long-term operation without capex intensity,” he said.
The partnership is expected to unlock new markets and accelerate decarbonization efforts across Europe’s industrial sector.
