LOUISVILLE: Ford Motor Co. said Monday it will invest $2 billion in its Louisville Assembly Plant to accelerate production of affordable electric vehicles, marking a major step in the automaker’s push to expand its EV lineup.
The Detroit-based company plans to build a midsize, four-door electric pickup at the Kentucky facility, with production expected to begin in 2027. The investment is projected to create or secure nearly 4,000 jobs across Ford’s operations, including roles tied to a previously announced $3 billion battery park in Michigan.
“We took a radical approach to a very hard challenge: Create affordable vehicles that delight customers in every way that matters – design, innovation, flexibility, space, driving pleasure, and cost of ownership – and do it with American workers,” Ford CEO Jim Farley said in a statement.
The Louisville investment underscores Ford’s commitment to domestic manufacturing and its strategy to make EVs more accessible to mainstream consumers.
