EAST AURORA: Astronics Corporation (Nasdaq: ATRO), a leading provider of advanced technologies for the aerospace and defense industries, announced the acquisition of Envoy Aerospace, a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) services provider, in a deal valued at approximately $8 million.
The acquisition strengthens Astronics’ ability to secure FAA certifications for aircraft connectivity, in-seat power and cabin modifications. The addition of Envoy Aerospace’s ODA capabilities will streamline the approval process for Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) and Parts Manufacturer Approvals (PMAs), positioning Astronics to meet growing demand for aircraft upgrades amid limited ODA service availability.
Nine Envoy Aerospace employees will join Astronics as part of the deal. Envoy, known for its expertise in aircraft and rotorcraft certification, specializes in securing FAA approvals for major design changes and foreign type certifications.
“Envoy Aerospace’s experience as an ODA makes them a perfect fit for Astronics, supporting our Inflight Entertainment and Connectivity strategy,” said Mike Kuehn, President of Astronics Connectivity Systems and Certifications. “This ensures dedicated access to ODA services for our customers.”
Adrian Honer, a partner at Envoy Aerospace, said the merger was a natural progression after two decades of collaboration with Astronics. “We’re excited to join Astronics and expand our capabilities in aviation safety and innovation,” Honer said.
Astronics, headquartered in East Aurora, New York, has provided aerospace and defense solutions for over 50 years.
