TOKYO: Nidec Corporation (TOKYO: 6594; OTC US: NJDCY) has acquired full ownership of Changzhou Xecom Energy Technologies Co., Ltd., a privately held Chinese manufacturer of scroll compressors, through its subsidiary Nidec Appliance Controls (Qingdao) Co., Ltd.

As a result of the transaction, Xecom has been renamed Nidec Scroll Technology (Changzhou) Co., Ltd. and is now a consolidated subsidiary of Nidec.

Company Overview

  • New Name: Nidec Scroll Technology (Changzhou) Co., Ltd.
  • Former Name: Changzhou Xecom Energy Technologies Co., Ltd.
  • Location: Floor 1, Building No. 2, No. 1 Xinsi Road, Xinbei District, Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province, China
  • Founded: 2021
  • Chairman: Alberto Casnati
  • Business Focus: Design and production of high-performance scroll compressors for air conditioning, heat pump, and refrigeration applications
  • Employees: Approximately 75 (as of December 2024)
  • 2024 Net Sales: ¥123 million RMB (approx. $17 million USD)

The acquisition aligns with Nidec’s long-term strategy to strengthen its appliance, commercial, and industrial motor businesses. The company has pursued a series of strategic acquisitions in the appliance motor sector, including Sole Motors in 2010 and Embraco in 2019, to bolster its refrigeration compressor capabilities.

With the addition of scroll compressor technology through Xecom, Nidec aims to deepen its presence in the refrigeration segment while entering new markets in air conditioning and heat pump systems.

“This acquisition enhances our technological portfolio and positions us to better serve the evolving needs of the global HVAC market,” the company said in a statement.

Nidec expects the acquisition to have no material impact on its consolidated financial results for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026. The company said it will provide further disclosures as needed in accordance with Tokyo Stock Exchange regulations.
