LONDON: Guardian Metal Resources plc (LON:GMET, OTCQB:GMTLF), a mineral exploration company focused on tungsten development in Nevada, has acquired 59 new mining claims in the Walker Lane Mineral Belt, forming the Pilot North Tungsten Project.
The newly staked claims, located roughly 15 kilometers northwest of the company’s flagship Pilot Mountain Project, encompass three historical tungsten mines—Copper Head, Western Metals, and Jasper—and strengthen Guardian Metal’s position as a key player in re-establishing U.S. tungsten production.
CEO Oliver Friesen said the move followed promising field assessments. “Pilot North has highly prospective geology and a production history, making it a natural complement to Pilot Mountain,” he said. The company’s geological consultant will begin on-site evaluations this month to assess exploration potential.
Initial reconnaissance confirmed skarn mineralization—a key indicator of tungsten and copper deposits—with visible copper oxide and UV-detected scheelite concentrations. Assays from rock samples are pending.
The U.S. government has classified tungsten as a critical mineral, heightening demand for domestic sources. Guardian Metal’s projects aim to reduce reliance on foreign supplies while capitalizing on Nevada’s mineral-rich geology.
