HELSINKI: Konecranes has appointed Marko Tulokas as its new president and CEO, effective June 1, the company announced Thursday.

Tulokas, 52, will succeed Anders Svensson, who will leave the company on July 19. Until his departure, Svensson will serve as an advisor to ensure a smooth transition.

Tulokas currently leads Konecranes’ Industrial Equipment business area and serves on its leadership team. He has been with the company since 2004, holding various senior roles in Finland and abroad. He holds a master’s degree in engineering and an MBA.

“Konecranes has over the past years successfully strengthened its position as a global leader in material handling solutions,” said Pasi Laine, chair of Konecranes’ board of directors. “Marko has extensive experience and knowledge of Konecranes’ people, customers, technology and offerings, and is in an excellent position to continue building success.”

Tulokas said he was “humble but excited” about leading the company and working closely with employees, customers and stakeholders. He credited Svensson with improving Konecranes’ strategy and financial performance during his tenure.
