Summit Minerals appoints Dr. Matthew Cobb as CEO

MOUNT HAWTHORN: Summit Minerals Limited (ASX:SUM) announced significant leadership changes on Monday, aimed at advancing its Equador Niobium and Rare Earth Elements (REE) Project in northeast Brazil. The company has appointed Dr. Matthew Cobb as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective March 10, 2025.

Dr. Cobb, a seasoned geologist with over 20 years of experience in the mining sector, brings extensive expertise in exploration, project development, and mine operations. He has held senior roles at major mining companies, including Fortuna Mining, Silver Lake Resources, and Consolidated Minerals, and has contributed to significant mineral discoveries across Australia, Africa, and South America.

“I am confident that Matthew will bring invaluable technical expertise and leadership necessary to take the Equador Niobium Project to the next level,” said Gower He, the current Managing Director, who will transition to the role of Executive Director. He will continue to provide strategic oversight and guidance to the company.

In addition to the leadership transition, Summit Minerals has appointed Marcel Mota Reikkal as an in-country geologist in Brazil. Reikkal, who has over 20 years of experience in geology and an MBA in Innovation and Sustainability, will oversee the Equador Niobium Project on the ground, strengthening the company’s operational capacity.

The leadership changes reflect Summit’s commitment to advancing its strategic priorities and efficiently developing its niobium and rare earth elements projects. The company also announced that Chief Geologist Stuart Peterson has departed.
