TOKYO: Fast Fitness Japan Inc., the master franchisee of Anytime Fitness clubs in Japan, has expanded its global footprint by acquiring Eighty-8 Health & Fitness, GmbH.
This strategic move grants Fast Fitness Japan the master franchisee rights for Anytime Fitness in Germany, with Eighty-8 continuing operations as a subsidiary.
The expansion is bolstered by the appointment of Mr. Florian Dermühl as the managing director of the German subsidiary. Dermühl’s extensive experience in franchise management and fitness company leadership in Europe is expected to drive the growth of Anytime Fitness in the German market.
Fast Fitness Japan’s expansion aligns with its corporate philosophy of promoting a healthy society through 24-hour fitness services. The company’s Medium-Term Management Plan emphasizes overseas growth and brand development as key strategies.
Self Esteem Brands, LLC, the parent company of Anytime Fitness, aims to reach 10,000 clubs worldwide by 2030. Fast Fitness Japan’s successful operation of over 1,100 domestic clubs has positioned it as a pivotal player in achieving this goal. The German market, valued at 790 billion yen and boasting a fitness participation rate of nearly 10.3%, presents a promising opportunity for Fast Fitness Japan to replicate its Japanese success internationally.
CEO Kiyoaki Yamabe expressed gratitude for the support from Self Esteem Brands, LLC, and optimism for the potential of high-value fitness gyms in Germany’s thriving market.
