Virtuos, a global leader in video game development, has acquired Los Angeles-based Beyond-FX. This move not only enhances Virtuos’ real-time VFX offerings but also reinforces its commitment to the growth and development of Beyond-FX’s talent pool and global client services.
Beyond-FX, established by Keith Guerrette in 2015, is renowned for its expertise in real-time VFX for top-tier AAA games, boasting a decorated team of 39 artists. Their portfolio includes contributions to over 100 projects, such as 2XKO, Mortal Kombat 1, and The Callisto Protocol.
Post-acquisition, Beyond-FX will retain Keith Guerrette as General Manager. Guerrette, an acclaimed VFX artist with notable work on The Last of Us and Uncharted, also founded RealtimeVFX.com, a community for VFX professionals. He emphasizes Beyond-FX’s commitment to integrating with developers globally and shaping the future of game co-development alongside Virtuos.
Dennis Cooper, Virtuos’ Regional Director of North America, lauds the acquisition, highlighting the shared dedication to innovation and education between Beyond-FX and Virtuos. The partnership aims to enhance service offerings in North America, Virtuos’ largest market.
