SYDNEY — Canva, the visual communication platform, announced Thursday its most significant product evolution to date: the launch of a “Creative Operating System.” The move consolidates over a decade of the company’s innovations with a suite of new tools aimed at streamlining the entire creative process for its 260 million users.

In a statement, Canva Co-Founder and CEO Melanie Perkins said the launch is a response to what she calls the “Imagination Era,” a shift from the “Information Era” where creativity is the critical differentiator.

“We’ve been thinking about how we can empower our community to succeed in this era, which is why we’re incredibly excited to unveil our biggest launch yet with the all-in-one Creative Operating System,” Perkins said.

The new system is built on what the company calls its “Design Model,” an AI layer designed to understand design logic and automate tasks. The platform integrates design, collaboration, publishing, and performance tracking into a single environment.

Key additions to the platform include:

  • A supercharged Visual Suite: This includes a rebuilt video editor, a new email design tool that allows for the creation and export of branded HTML emails, and a Forms product for collecting data directly within Canva.
  • World-First Design AI: Canva is introducing a suite of AI tools, including a model trained specifically on design principles. A new feature, “Ask @Canva,” acts as an AI assistant within the editor for instant feedback and suggestions.
  • Tools for Brand Growth: A new “Brand System” automatically applies brand assets like fonts and logos, while “Canva Grow” serves as an end-to-end marketing platform for launching and tracking ad campaigns on platforms like Meta.

In a move that bridges professional and casual design, Canva also announced that Affinity, its suite of professional-grade design software for vector editing and photo manipulation, is now completely free. The company stated this removes a significant cost barrier for professional creators.

Canva, which now serves 95% of Fortune 500 companies and has a valuation of $42 billion, also introduced a new “Canva Business” plan to bridge the gap between its Pro and Enterprise offerings.
