AQABA: NaiTel, the telecom arm of Aqaba Digital Hub (ADH), and Telecom Egypt have completed the laying of the Coral Bridge subsea cable, the first direct digital link between Egypt and Jordan in more than 25 years.
The 15-kilometer express cable, equipped with 48 fiber pairs, connects Taba, Egypt, to Aqaba, Jordan, across the Gulf of Aqaba, marking a major milestone in Middle East connectivity.
The Coral Bridge system landed at Telecom Egypt’s newly established cable landing station in Taba, part of its broader digital infrastructure expansion in the Sinai Peninsula. On the Jordanian side, the cable terminates at ADH’s Tier III carrier-neutral facility in Aqaba, enhancing redundancy and recovery capabilities for regional enterprises and hyperscalers.
Designed to transport over 1 Petabit of data traffic, the Coral Bridge cable supports high-demand applications such as cloud computing and artificial intelligence. Its short length reduces latency and lowers data transmission costs, offering seamless onward connectivity across Asia, Africa, and Europe.
“This cable is more than infrastructure—it’s a strategic asset,” said Eyad Abu Khorma, Founder and CEO of ADH. “It strengthens regional resilience and opens new opportunities for sovereign connectivity.”
Telecom Egypt CEO Mohamed Nasr emphasized the strategic value of the corridor: “Coral Bridge will aggregate regional traffic and channel it through Egypt’s diverse terrestrial routes to the Mediterranean, supporting data center growth and subsea network resilience.”
Engineered to high technical and environmental standards, Coral Bridge reflects a sustainable approach to digital infrastructure. The collaboration between ADH/NaiTel and Telecom Egypt underscores the potential of cross-border partnerships to unlock long-term value and drive future infrastructure initiatives across the Middle East.
