
SACRAMENTO: Accenture (NYSE: ACN) has acquired The Highlands Consulting Group, a Sacramento-based management consulting firm with deep expertise in healthcare, transportation, social services and environmental solutions, bolstering its public sector capabilities across California.
Founded in 2002, Highlands Consulting has built a reputation for delivering strategic business and digital planning, organizational change, and IT analysis to state agencies. The acquisition strengthens Accenture’s footprint in California, where Highlands Consulting maintains long-standing relationships and a proven track record of high-impact consulting.
“Highlands Consulting’s strong relationships and credentials with state agencies will help us better serve our clients and unlock new opportunities for reinvention that drives growth and innovation,” said Ryan Oakes, global Health & Public Services industry practices chair at Accenture.
The deal aligns with Accenture’s broader strategy to enhance service offerings in critical sectors and accelerate client outcomes. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Mike Cappelluti, president of Highlands Consulting, called the acquisition “a natural fit,” adding that Accenture’s scale will amplify the firm’s local expertise and expand its capabilities statewide.
The combined entity will offer clients a broader range of services and deeper talent resources to address complex challenges in health and human services, transportation, and organizational transformation.
