Samsung’s latest foldable flagship, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, is rewriting the sales playbook. The company announced record-breaking pre-orders for the device in the United States, outpacing all previous Galaxy Z Fold models in history.
According to Samsung, pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and its companion device, the Galaxy Z Flip 7, were up 25% compared to last year’s releases. Mobile network carriers reported a staggering 60% increase in pre-orders for both devices, underscoring the growing appeal of foldables in the U.S. market.
Samsung says the momentum hasn’t slowed. “Since last week’s general availability, momentum for both devices remains strong,” the company noted. “Galaxy Z Fold 7 is outpacing its predecessor by nearly 50% since availability opened on July 25.”
A surprising shift in consumer behavior emerged as well. While black had traditionally dominated previous Fold generations, the new Blue Shadow variant of the Fold 7 captured nearly 50% of pre-orders. Likewise, demand for the Coralred option of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 exceeded expectations, accounting for 25% of orders.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 introduces significant upgrades including a slimmer and lighter form factor, exceptional displays, enhanced cameras, extended battery life, and improved durability. These advances have made it one of the most sought-after foldable devices on the market.
Drew Blackard, Senior Vice President of Mobile Product Management at Samsung America, said foldables have hit a tipping point. “We’ve addressed consumer feedback year after year and arrived at the kind of experience you can’t get on any other device,” he said. “When people go hands-on with a Z series device, they’re hooked — and now it’s all coming together with record-breaking numbers.”
