WebPros acquires Comet Backup

LUXEMBOURG:  WebPros, a global leader in web automation and operations software, announced Tuesday the acquisition of Comet Backup, a provider of cloud backup solutions for managed IT services. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The deal strengthens WebPros’ portfolio of tools for website management, which already includes platforms like cPanel, Plesk and WHMCS. The company powers more than 60 million domains worldwide.

“Comet Backup’s technology fits perfectly with our mission to provide comprehensive web solutions,” said Christian Koch, CEO of WebPros. “This helps our customers manage data security more efficiently.”

The acquisition comes as businesses face growing cybersecurity threats and data storage demands. Comet Backup’s software allows companies to store information on their own servers or through major cloud providers like Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.

Josh Flores, Comet Backup’s general manager, said joining WebPros will accelerate innovation while maintaining service quality. “Our clients will see the same reliable product, now with greater resources behind it,” he said.

Austin, Texas-based WebPros has been actively expanding through acquisitions in web hosting, e-commerce and cybersecurity sectors. The company supports over 27 million users across 227 countries.

Comet Backup, founded in New Zealand, serves IT professionals and managed service providers with customizable backup solutions. The platform emphasizes fast recovery and cross-platform compatibility.

Both companies will continue operating independently while integrating technologies. Existing customers should see no immediate changes to service, officials said.

WebPros provides web hosting automation software including cPanel, Plesk and WHMCS.

Comet Backup offers cloud-based backup solutions for businesses and IT teams.
