PERTH: Evion Group Ltd. (ASX: EVG) has finalized a deal to deliver its first shipment of expandable graphite to a major U.S. supply chain company, marking a significant step in the company’s efforts to position itself as a reliable, non-Chinese source of critical minerals.
The 80-metric-tonne shipment, valued at approximately A$400,000, will be dispatched over the next two months from Evion’s Panthera Graphite facility near Pune, India. The site is part of a 50:50 joint venture with Metachem Manufacturing Co.
“This shipment signals a broader shift in the global supply landscape,” said Evion Managing Director David Round. “There is growing demand from U.S. industries for high-quality, non-Chinese sources of critical minerals like expandable graphite.”
The announcement follows Panthera’s maiden shipment in March 2025 and comes amid a rising push by the U.S. and other nations to diversify sourcing of materials essential for energy storage, aerospace, electronics and defense.
Evion’s expandable graphite is used in thermal management and fire retardancy applications across a range of sectors experiencing long-term growth.
The company said ongoing negotiations aim to establish regular supply agreements with buyers in the U.S., Europe and Asia.
Evion is also developing its Maniry Project in southern Madagascar and a Battery Anode Material Project in Germany, advancing its vertically integrated graphite business across multiple continents.
