LONDON: OXB (LSE: OXB), a leading global cell and gene therapy contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO), has acquired the remaining 10% stake in its U.S. subsidiary, OXB US LLC, from Q32 Bio, Inc., securing full ownership of the facility.
The move, finalized after OXB’s U.S. subsidiary exercised a prearranged call option in March, solidifies the company’s presence in the fast-growing cell and gene therapy market. The Bedford, Massachusetts-based facility, originally established in 2022 as an adeno-associated virus (AAV) manufacturing hub, has since expanded its capabilities and is now a key part of OXB’s global production network.
“Full ownership of our U.S. business strengthens our position in a critical market and allows us to meet rising demand for high-quality vector manufacturing,” said Dr. Frank Mathias, CEO of OXB. “With sites in the U.S., U.K., and France, we provide clients worldwide with end-to-end support for cell and gene therapies.”
The 96,000-square-foot facility specializes in lentiviral and AAV vector production, supporting drug development from early-stage research to commercialization. Since its integration into OXB’s network, the site has successfully transferred lentiviral manufacturing technology and onboarded multiple new client programs.
The acquisition follows the 2024 merger of Homology Medicines, the original minority stakeholder, with Q32 Bio. OXB had previously announced its intent to take full control in its April 2025 preliminary results.
The cell and gene therapy sector continues to expand rapidly, with OXB positioning itself as a key player in manufacturing—a critical bottleneck in bringing these advanced treatments to patients. The company’s global footprint now offers biotech and pharmaceutical partners access to specialized viral vector production on both sides of the Atlantic.
