LONDON: B.P. Marsh and Partners PLC (AIM:BPM), a specialist private equity investor in early-stage financial services firms, has acquired a 27% stake in Cameron Specialty, a London-based underwriting agency.
The investment includes funding of up to £1.7 million ($2.2 million) through a combination of equity and a loan facility, part of which was drawn at completion.
Founded in 2021, Cameron Specialty focuses on U.K. commercial property insurance, serving the commercial combined and property owners sectors. Its founder and CEO, Tom Kirkland, brings 20 years of industry experience across broking and underwriting.
With B.P. Marsh’s backing, Cameron Specialty plans to expand into the Republic of Ireland and Europe while exploring new business lines.
“We are excited to welcome B.P. Marsh as a partner,” Kirkland said. “Their expertise and track record in supporting entrepreneurial businesses make them ideal for our growth journey.”
Adrian Colosso, Cameron Specialty’s non-executive chairman, said the investment brings “not only capital but also a wealth of expertise.”
Dan Topping, B.P. Marsh’s chief investment officer, who will join Cameron Specialty’s board, called the company “a strong addition” to its portfolio.
B.P. Marsh has a 30-year history of investing in insurance intermediaries.
